Let's have a little talk...

Alright guys. Let's have a talk. I am not for/against things because I heard someone talk about it, or because I read something on a blog and decided then and there, that I should believe what they say, just because I like the way it sounds. No. I think it is interesting and I go out and look for proof that there is truth the matter. I look at scientific studies,  both for and against the matter, I search out doctors opinions on the matter. With things that I am for against, like no vaxxing, against RIC (Routine Infant Circumcision), pro bed sharing and such, there are doctors opinions for and against it. With things that I have chosen, I feel the doctors that are on the sAmerican side I have chosen, are very passionate about their work, and they took the extra time to look into things that everyone else just does because that's what everyone else does. They explain benefits of the matters, or harms of the matters, and give scientific proof. It is not easy not going with the flow. It is hard and time consuming. Instead of just saying "okay, everyone else does this, so it must be right" you question things. You have a little idea that maybe something isn't right, and you research it. When I was a first time mom, I was not like this. I did what "professionals" said, the doctor, the parents as teachers teacher, nurses, anyone that was in a specialty. Because I thought everyone had the same information, and one pediatrician had all the information on their specialty. I found they were wrong a few years later when I started seeing posts on facebook about some friends being against this and that, things that I had been told were right. I ignored the first few and kept scrolling, when they kept posting things, I finally clicked on them, wondering what all the fuss was about. After reading that article, I would go to Google and type in that topic and read not just 1 other thing on the matyer, but many. Sometimes 2 or 3, and other times, I would keep searching it on and off all day. I don't just go with the first thing I read, I keep researching. When I see people bashing parents that are trying to inform, and saying they are wrong, it makes me pretty upset. The people that actually do research and are trying to share their findings with other people, other parents, and help thier kids, are being called names and yelled at, just by sharing their findings. If you don't agree with it, then leave their page or keep scrolling. You should do you own research and see what you find. Not just on what you have been taught, but on what you haven't been taught. Here's an example, maybe you've been taught that flipping an infants car seat to forward facing at 20lbs and 1 year is what everyone else does. Does that mean it's safe? In this matter, NO. There are crash test videos showing the damage caused to a child in an accident where the child was rear facing too soon. Many, Many stories of parents sharing their stories, wishing someone had told them that they were wrong for turning around their infants car seat too soon. In this matter, if I see a friend post a picture of their infant ff on facebook, I send them a private message that nicely explains that it is recommended that infants be rear facing till at least 2 now. And that there are car seats that rf then ff later. And tell them I did the same thing with my oldest. I turned him around forward facing at 1 year and 20 lbs and I thank the Lord all the time that I never got into an accident with him in the car with me. I try to inform them nicely, and attach links to websites with reccommendations, and videos on youtube making it very easy for them. This is one big one that it shouldn't be that hard of a decision, yet I fear the people I have spoken with about it don't care. They lie or shrug it off, and it makes me very sad for that child. And all I can do is hope and pray that that child is never in an accident. This is an easy one, at least, I feel it's the easiest to talk about to other people, easy to find things that are for it. Other things such as against cry it out, no solids before 6 months, or a year, leaving baby boys intact, those are hard. Because they have done the norm, people feel directly attacked and get defensive when other people are just trying to inform. One tging that particularly bothers me is a "friend" on facebook asked for some advice on something, and yes, there were a lot of comments saying that everyone else does the same thing, has the same problem. Then I commented and said "you shpuld look into __________" she replied, accused me of not reading her post all the way and that she does a small piece of what I suggested, every once in awhile. I told her that for what I was suggesting she look into, it's an all the time thing, not an every once in a while thing. She continued to say she is fine with what she is doing, that it works (after saying it doesn't work in her post and in other comments) I gave her some info, some drs that agreed with what I was saying, I was being informitive, not accusing or attacking at all in the beginning and she refused to take any information different than what she knew, what she was used to, what WASN'T working. It made her uncomfortable to think that maybe she had been wrong. I told her I had been wrong too and went with the flow, but I got informed and realized I was wrong, and I am working on changing it, as this particular thing is a process to change. What I am trying to say here is don't just shoot down something someone says because it's not what you know, what you've been taught. Take their information, read their information they give you, and do your own personal research. THEN make your decision. Most of the time, people like me try to nicely inform, and get attacked for no reason. This is one thing that makes this lifestyle hard. Another thing is when we strongly believe in something, and are firm on that decision, it makes us upset to see other parents making the same mistakes we have made, other parents rejecting to learn more for their children. It is hard enough being a parent as it is, don't put someone down for going out of their way to do research for the best for their children.

Banana Bread Oatmeal

Ah, banana bread oatmeal. I make this quick, easy, and yummy breakfast at least once a week. It is so easy and everyones happy. When I say everyone, I mean myself and the kids. My husband doesn't eat breakfast during the week. He leaves for work at 4:45 in the morning, and doesn't want to eat breakfast. So he only eats breakfast on the weekends.

I use unsweetened almond milk instead of water in oats, I think it gives better flavor, and adds a little bit more nutrients. And I add all the seasonings before I add the oats, so the flavors can cook into the oats.

You can go ahead and mash the banana while you wait for the milk to start to boil.

Add in the oats once the milk stars boiling. Bring it up to a boil and turn it down a little. Cook it for a few minutes, stirring about every 30 seconds. Add in the mashed banana and let it cook a few more minutes until it to the consistency you like.

1 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 Tbsp agave
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 medium banana

Directions:
Put the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Put the salt, allspice, cinnamon, vanilla, and agave in the milk, stir. When the milk starts to boil, pour in the oats and stir. When it starts to boil, reduce heat to medium low, closer to medium. Stir every 30 seconds for about 4 minutes, until it begins to thicken. Mash banana and stir in. Let it thicken to the texture you prefer and put into bowls and enjoy. This makes 2 servings, or in my house, 1 adult serving and 2 child servings.

Rainbow VeggieFULL Lunch

Since I know we are having chicken and dumplings for dinner tonight, with just chicken and canned biscuits, by husband's request, his grandmother's recipe, I knew I needed to do something super healthy for lunch today for myself and littlest man. Big brother is with my mother today, so it was just me a little one, it's a bit more peaceful around here today...Anyways, enter rainbow rainbow veggieFULL lunch. Yes, I know I'm missing some reds and yellows, but close enough. :)

Now my peas, green beans, broccoli, and cauliflower were all frozen, so I started by putting them in a medium saucepan with an inch of water until they were all defrosted. I added in the cut carrots about half way through, to pre soften them. I also stirred the vegetables every few minutes.

I cut up the red cabbage and red onion into small bite sized pieces and put them on the pre oiled pan while the other vegetables were defrosting.

Once the vegetables were all defrosted, I drained them and poured them on top of the cabbage and onion. I put sea salt, black pepper, a special Italian seasoning, garlocal powder, and drizzled some more oil on top and tossed the vegetables and popped them into the oven.

See that special oil dispenser I have? It was originally a red wine vinegar container. I cleaned it and now I use it for drizzling oil on things, with the little 3 holes on top, it works PERFECTLY for drizzling oil!

I baked them for about 13 minutes, and it was so good! Perfectly flavored!!

Here's the recipe for ya!

Rainbow VeggieFULL Lunch
  • 1 cup frozen (or raw) broccoli
  • 1 cup frozen (or raw) cauliflowere
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup frozen green beans
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1/2 cup red onion
  • 1 cup red cabbage
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil for drizzling
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp chili flakes
  • Optional: if you would like to add more vegetables, or more colors, you could also add bite sized pieces of bell peppers, any and all colors would be good, I just didn't have anymore. Just add them when you add the onion and cabbage. *may want to add extra seasoning and extra oil.
Directions:
Heat oven to 425° drizzle about 1 tablespoon or more if you like olive oil on a rimmed baking sheet. Put about an inch of water in a medium saucepan, turn on medium heat. Put broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, and peas in the saucepan and cover. Cut cabbage while you wait. Cut carrots into 2 inch long pieces, about 1/2 inch wide. Place carrots into pot with frozen vegetables. If you are using all fresh, cook the carrots on med low heat with 1/4 oinch of water for about 5 minutes.) Stir vegetables. Place lid back on the pan. Cut onion. Put onion and cabbage on the baking sheet. Check vegetables, they are some when all vegetables are defrosted an d carrots are soft. When they are done, drain the water off then pour over cabbage and onion. Sprinkle salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, chili flakes, and garlic powder over vegetables. Drizzle 1-2 tbsp olive oil over vegetables and toss until everything is coated. Put in oven for 12-15 minutes. Mine were in for 13 minutes.

Why I choose to use Essential Oils (and what brand I choose)

I was introduced to essential oils about 2 years ago, and I loved them from the moment I was first introduced to them. I was invited to an essential oil class by my neighbor, and I had nothing else to do that evening, as my husband was working his second job and my oldest was at my parents house, and I was just pregnant with my second child. I had never heard of them before so I went completely open minded. I was amazed at these little bottles of joy! I have used these oils for SO much, from in food, to warding off sickness, and helping my babies when they don't feel good. I haven't had to take my now 16 month old to the dr for sickness in almost a year! Yes, he's been sick, but I helped him with these oils. They can get into your cells and kill viruses, something modern medicine CAN'T do!

Here is a picture of a peppermint leaf, and a magnified peppermint leaf, the small white sacs are the essential oil, to protect the plant from bugs and other outside threats.
Now where exactly do these oils come from?

There are three ways you can use essential oils, Aromatically, topically, and internally.

Now, not all oils are safe for internal use. Some are only safe for topical, or aromatic, and sometimes both. We have a really simple way to find out which oils can be used internally, and which ones can't.

So I went home with a little bottle of Wild orange, that I received free just for goin to the class,  and I used it for heartburn, more energy, anything I could find a use for it!  I then went on a search for other oils and what the difference was. I found myself coming back to the original company I was introduced to. So many things drew me back to this company. They do third party testing, so that there isn't a biased opinion on if the oils come back impure. They made their own standard for their oils, so if the oil doesn't meet their standards, its not released for personal use.

Now about where their oils come from, now some companies tout about how they own their own farms, or how all their farms are only in the USA, or even all in someone's backyard. My company on the other hand, sources their oils from it's original origins. Where the oil is going to have all the right theraputic compounds. The chemistry of the plant changes depending on where it's grown. With our Co-Impact sourcing, we form partnerships with generational, high-reputation farms who have mastered the art of growing and distilling oils. Since we don't own our farms, we are able to determine the quality. Why is this importnant? If we did own our own farms, what happens if we have a bad crop? We have huge losses, or distributing the oils anyways, and they won't be as good as the oils that were from the good crops, and the oils wouldn't have all the benefits we are used to.

We pay our farmers 4-10 times MORE than any wholesaler will pay, offering top dollar IF they meet our high standards. Because of the way our oils are sourced, EVERYONE wins; the farmer wins with better profits, and we win because we're getting a premium oil. No one can compete with this sourcing model.

Now I'm sure you noticed the name of the company sometime before now, but the name of the oil company I decided is safe for my family, the oil company I have fallen in love with is.... doTERRA.

They don't just have oils though, in fact, their number one selling product isn't even an oil. It's their Lifelong Vitality Vitamins, great for any stange in life as an adult. I took them during my second pregnancy, and I was not sick AT ALL while taking the vitamins, but I was sick before I was on these vitamins, a lot.  I was even around family members with the flu, and in an emergency room full of flu riden children and DID NOT GET SICK! Even better? If you order these vitamins through doTERRA, and you do not experience more energy and less pain in 30 days, you get your money back!!!

Other products they have include facial carfe products, body bars, lotion, children's vitamins, laundry detergent, hand soap, weight loss supplements, hair care products, toothpaste, a greens supplement, oil soft gel blends for different things, and more! Here are just a few of our other products

Here are some of our blends to help live a more natural everyday life

If you would like to order some product, you have three choices. Retail, preferred member, or wholesale. Most people do wholesale, but some do retail. Retail is if you only want to buy a product every once in a while. if you think you want to keep on buying products, then preferred member or wholesale are the best options. If you don't want your own website and just want to call in your order, then preferred member is for you. If you want to have your own online back office and make your order online, and have the option to sell products and make commissions, then wholesale is the best for you.

If you want to buy retail, or have some questions, send me an Email

Lemony gluten free pancakes

Hello! Yesterday I made these pancakes for breakfast, and both my 6 year old and 16 month old gobbled them up like they had never had a batter pancake! I was one happy momma!

I just had an idea to add some lemon zest into these pancakes and tried it and they were SO good!!! They are made with Bob's Red Mill gluten free flour, and this is the first time I used it, and I was NOT disappointed, I will definitely keep buying it!

AND they are almost dairy free! All you have to do is swap out butter for coconut oil, or oil of choice if you want it completely dairy free!

Recipe is below all the pictures :)

Here's how much lemon zest I used, it was about 1/3 of the lemon

Anxiously waiting for the pancakes to be done......

And they're done and ready to eat! I used agave nectar for the syrup since I thought that maple syrup may taste a bit weird.

Here's the recipe for ya!

Lemony Gluten Free Pancakes
  • 1 1/4 cup Bob's Red Mill gluten free flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg white, beaten
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (room temp if available, if not, it will be fine)
  • 2 tbsp agave nectar
  • 2 tbsp butter (or coconut oil)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/3 lemon zest

Preheat skillet on medium low, mine is closer to medium for perfectly browned pancakes. Preheat oven to "warm" setting or 200°. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnmon all in a large bowl. Mix eggs, milk, agave, butter, vanilla, and lemon zest in a medium bowl. Make a crater in the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix well, but don't over mix. Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup or 1/3 cup measuring cup, pour puddles of yummy pancake mix onto the skillet and let cook until bubbles are rising in the middle of the pancake, then flip. Once cooked trough, store them on a foil lined cookie sheet in the warmed oven. Makes about 14-16 pancakes. Enjoy the yumminess. :)

A short story about why I am natural. :)

Hi! My name is Brittany, and I am a small town stay at home mom and wife. My husband and I have been married going on 3 years this December. We have two boys, 6 years old and 16 months old. I am a scrunchy momma. what is a scrunchy mommam, you ask? Well there are silky moms, crunchy moms, and scrunchy moms, which are in between. I lean more towards crunchy though. Crunchy moms do things all natural, like home births, breastfeeding, baby wearing, co-sleeping, peaceful parenting, cloth diapering, homeschooling, not vaccinating, questioning modern doctors, things like that. Silky moms dont question routine doctor suggestions, vaccinate, let their babies sleep in cribs, use more discipline such as spanking and time outs, dispoable diapers. Scrunchy moms are moms that do things from both. I personally do not vaccinate my children anymore, breastfeed, birth in hospitals, which that may change next go around, depending on circumstances. I cloth diaper most of the time, I use essential oils for everything, from preventing sickness to chemical free cleaners for our home. I baby wear and use strollers, I usually don't take my kids to the doctor unless its something severe or something that won't go away. I use esential oils at the first sign of ANY sickness, and they have worked wonderfully for us! I have started eating more clean, and we just started working on getting rid of gluten and most dairy, right now we just don't drink cows milk, because it's for cows, not humans. ;) I would like to one day homeschool, but it's not in the cards for us right now. So I can see myself being full blown crunchy one day! Now I didn't start out this way. When my oldest was born, I was 18 years old, and I did everything the doctors said, because "hey, they're doctors, they know everything, right?" I did the scheduled vaccines, CIO, turned his carseat forward facing (gasp! I am so glad I didn't get into an accident with him with me!) when he was 1 year and 20 lbs. We ate pretty unhealthy food, all that normal mainstream American stuff. (Except for circumcision, because he was on Medicaid, and at the time, Medicaid didn't cover circumcisions, and we didn't have the money for it, even though his dad wanted it done.) It was about 2 1/2 years ago that I realized how unhealthy we ate and I tried to go Vegan. What made me realize how unhealthy it was, was when I took a Nutrition class at the local community college. I did not finish the semester as I had concentration and procrastination problems. Then about 2 years ago, I was introduced to essential oils. My oldest son was at his grandparents for the night and my husband was off working his second job, and my neighbor invited me to a class. I went, having no idea what essential oils even were. I fell in love with them immediately, and started buying products as soon as we had the money a month later. I kept using them, and researching them, and all the chemicals that are in our daily products and foods, and what they do to our bodies. (yuck!!) I used the oils for about a year before I decided I wanted to be part of the business, I started talking to the woman that did the first class I went to and she has helped me so much, and now I'm REALLY getting serious about the business. And this business is SO AMAZING you guys, just so much about them! All of their products are tested and they do a lot of research before making any products, and they help out the farmers that give us our precious oils so much, And their compensation plan is different than all the other network marketing businesses, I LOVE IT!!!! Anyways, so the oils were a big part of being natural, and I have friends who posted on social media about things like vaccines and circumcision that made me research those things. Let me tell you what, I HATE school, but I LOVE learning about things that effect our daily lives. I think that's about it for now, Thanks for stopping by and reading my short novel. :)
